v1.0.0New
11 September 2026

First public release.

FlowShot is on the Chrome Web Store. Capture a workflow in the side panel, tidy it in the editor, and share it as a file — all without anything leaving your device.

What's new

  • Side-panel capture. Start, pause, resume and finish a recording from Chrome's side panel. Only the tab you chose is recorded, and each captured step appears in the panel as you work.
  • Automatic steps. Every click and completed text entry becomes a numbered step with a screenshot, a highlight around the element and a draft instruction such as "Click 'New project'".
  • Step editor. Reorder steps by dragging, rewrite titles and instructions in place, add or trash a step, replace a screenshot. Changes autosave locally.
  • Annotation workspace. Highlight, Arrow, Blur and Text tools, each kept as an editable layer with colour, stroke and corner controls. Cmd/Ctrl+Z undoes; Escape exits.
  • Guide preview. A reader-first view with a table of contents that jumps to any step — exactly what the exported guide looks like.
  • Three export formats. Standalone HTML (one offline file), Print / PDF via the browser's print dialog, and a .flowshot.json backup that keeps unblurred originals for later editing.
  • Local files. Save a copy of any guide to a folder you choose, reveal it in Finder or File Explorer, and re-import it on another machine.
  • Trash. Deleted guides and steps go to Trash first and can be restored until you empty it.

Improvements

  • Password and payment-card inputs are skipped during capture, so a step never carries a secret.
  • The library shows how much space guides are using on this device.
v0.9.2Patch
2 September 2026

Release-candidate fixes.

Bug fixes

  • Pausing a capture no longer records the click on the Pause button itself as a step.
  • Highlights drawn on very tall pages stayed aligned after the screenshot was scaled in the editor.
  • Blur regions are now applied to the exported HTML at full resolution instead of the preview size.
  • “Show in folder” works again for files saved outside the Downloads folder.

Improvements

  • Focus returns to the control that opened a dialog when the dialog closes.
  • Recording timer and step count now use tabular figures so they stop jittering.
v0.9.0Beta
18 August 2026

Private beta.

The first build shared outside the team. Capture, editing and HTML export were in place; annotation and PDF came later.

What's new

  • Side-panel capture with Ready, Recording and Paused states.
  • Step editor with drag-to-reorder and in-place text editing.
  • Standalone HTML export.
  • Local-only storage with an “On this device” indicator in the library.

Removed

  • The experimental “copy guide as Markdown” action was removed while its screenshot handling is reworked.
